September Newsletter 2017

September 2017

Dear Parents/Guardians:

A new school year has arrived and the Music Department is actively recruiting all interested 4th and 5th graders into our Elementary Band Program.  This is a great opportunity for your child to learn how to play a musical instrument.

All students will be attending a live demonstration of instruments offered in the program, on Friday, September 15, 2017, at the Donahue Elementary School. During the demonstration, your child will have an opportunity to hear the various instruments, receive rental information, and ask any questions they may have.

Students will receive a lesson on any concert band instrument during the school day. You may choose one of the following instruments: Flute, Clarinet, Alto Saxophone, Trumpet, and Snare Drum. Students will also perform at our annual Spring Band Concert in June.

If your child will be participating in the Band program, please fill out the Music Lesson Registration form that is attached to the NEMC rental flyer and return to your homeroom teacher as soon as possible, so that we may begin instruction.  Rental information will be sent home with students after the demonstration.  If you are interested in renting an instrument, please visit www.nemc.com and complete the online form.  If you need a hard copy of the rental form, please contact Mr. Salonia.

Visit www.nemc.com

 1.     Select a rental period. (10 Month Special, Best Value)

2.     Select one of the above instruments, in either group one, two, or three.

3.     Add the cost of the required lesson book (Essential Elements For Band, Book One,  (your instrument) to the cost of the rental instrument. (Damage Waiver, recommended)

IMPORTANT

Instruments available through the NEMC rental program are of top quality and will last a very long time if properly maintained.  NEMC also provides free pick-up and delivery of all instruments to your child’s school.

Any band instrument sold at a department store, warehouse type store, or bargain Internet site may be of poor quality and may malfunction in a short time.  Low quality instruments will have a negative effect on the student and will inhibit the learning process.  If you already own an instrument and will not need to rent one, please fill out the music lesson registration form and return to your child’s homeroom teacher, so that we may begin instruction. Mr. Salonia will check the instrument to ensure that it is in proper working condition; however, you will still need to obtain Essential Elements For Band, Book 1 (your instrument)

Thank you for your interest in the Band Program

Sincerely,

Louis Salonia

Instrumental Music Teacher
